Evangeline O. "Vange" Teeselink

Evangeline O. “Vange” Teeselink, age 81, of Kewaskum, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2006 at Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk.


She was born on April 17, 1925 in the town of Auburn, the daughter of the late William and Olga (Eichstedt) Schmidt, and on April 17, 1946, she was united in marriage to Lloyd Teeselink in Iowa City, Iowa. Her husband preceded her in death on October 9, 2003.


Vange was employed by the village of Kewaskum where she worked in the community library, retiring in 1987 after 19 years of service. She was an active member in her church, Peace United Church of Christ in Kewaskum, as a Sunday school teacher and in Women at Peace. She was also active in her community as a den mother with Cub Scouts, the Kewaskum Historical Society, the Kewaskum XYZ Club, the American Legion Auxiliary in Kewaskum and Modern Woodman. Vange faithfully sold poppies on Poppy Day and enthusiastically shared the story behind the poppies with second grade students at Kewaskum area elementary schools.


She enjoyed spending time with her family, her friends, playing cards, traveling and camping. Vange will be deeply missed by her family, her friends and by all who knew her.


Survivors include three children, David (Sheila) Teeselink of Sheboygan, Renee Schrab of Greenfield and Dean (Joann) Teeselink of Davenport, Iowa; six grandchildren, Aaron Schrab, Sara Gehrke, Lisa Teeselink, Matt Teeselink, Laura (Jeremy) Weber and Tanya (Mike) Schwinn; six great-grandchildren, Micah and Caleb Gehrke, Natasha and Airanna Schwinn, Ellie and Alex Weber; four sisters-in-law, Margaret Erdmann of Eagle River, Mabel (Ed) Olivier of Hubertus and Laurel Teeselink of Woodruff and Betty Teeselink of Lannon; a brother-in-law, Ken (Evonne) Teeselink of Tempe, Arizona; special nephews, Dan (Phyllis) Schmidt and Richard (Patty) Schmidt both of Kewaskum, many other beloved nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.


Vange was preceded in death by a brother, Sylvester (Ione) Schmidt; two infant sisters, Beulah and Bernice; three brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law and a son-in-law.


Funeral services for Vange will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at Peace United Church of Christ, 343 First Street, Kewaskum. Rev. Eric Kirkegaard will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery.


Relatives and friends may call at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services.
