Evelyn N. Kempf, (nee Bartel), age 88, of West Bend, passed away Monday December 3, 2007 at SynergyHealth St. Joseph's Hospital.
She was born on August 16, 1919 in the Town of Scott in Sheboygan County to the late Frank and Ida (nee Holz) Bartel, and was united in marriage to Hugo Kempf on January 2, 1937 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in the Town of Scott. Hugo preceded her in death in 2004.
Evelyn worked for Regal Ware in Kewaskum for 31 years, retiring in 1981. She was a member of Good Shepherd Ev. Lutheran Church, West Bend, and the church Altar Guild. She was also a member of the 25-year club at Regal Ware. Evelyn enjoyed playing cards, especially Sheepshead, and working on word puzzles.
Evelyn is survived by two children, Norman (Rosemary) Kempf of Campbellsport, and Judith (Keith) Colwell of Beaver Dam; seven grandchildren, Shelby (Dan) Sarauer of Campbellsport, Gary (Mary Jo) Kempf of Saukville, Brenda (Paul) Bray of Campbellsport, Kevin (Brenda) Kempf of Batavia, Jacqueline (Wayne) Kempf of Pewaukee, Todd Colwell of Oak Creek, and Ann (Cody) Beckman of Greenville; 14 great-grandchildren, Amber, Greg, Dylan, Brett, Nathan, Molly, Jamie, Leah, Samantha, Matthew, Justin, Tyler, Jolie, and Emma; four great - great grandchildren, Payton, Siddalee, Braydon, and Kylah; a sister, Clara Kempf of Kewaskum; a brother, Marlin (Martha) Bartel of Sheboygan; five sisters-in-law, Leola Bartel of Milwaukee, Irene Uelman of Oconomowoc, Helen Bechler of West Bend, Virginia Kempf of West Bend, and Edna Kempf of West Bend; a brother-in-law, Henry (Joyce) Kempf of West Bend; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Elva Piering, and Lenora Witt; four brothers, Oscar Bartel, Arno Bartel, Herbert Bartel, and Lester Bartel; along with many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Funeral services for Evelyn will be held on Friday at 12:00 (noon) at Good Shepherd Ev. Lutheran Church (777 S. Indiana Ave.). Rev. John Paustian will officiate and burial will follow in Washington County Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday at the church only from 10:00 am until the time of service. Memorials may be given to Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School, or Good Shepherd Church.
