Evelyn T. Smith

Evelyn T. Smith, nee Kollmeyer, 87, of West Bend, died Thursday, August 19, 2004 at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center, West Bend.

She was born on Oct. 30, 1916 in Milwaukee to the late Herman and Frieda (nee Hoffmann) Kollmeyer. She graduated from North Division High School in Milwaukee.

On April 26, 1942 he was united in marriage to Delmar Smith at Grace Reformed Church in Milwaukee. The couple lived in Hales Corners for many years until moving to West Bend in 1989.

Before her marriage, Evelyn worked at the Nunn Bush Shoe Company in Milwaukee and she later worked at Drew's Variety Store in Hales Corners.

She mostly enjoyed being a homemaker and caring for her family. She also enjoyed collecting buttonhooks and butterflies. After retirement Evelyn enjoyed traveling in their motor home. She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in West Bend and was also a life member of the Women's Guild at Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Hales Corners.

She is survived by her husband, Delmar; two daughters, Virginia (Keith) Edwards of Hacienda Heights, CA, and Eileen (Ted) Landmann of Appleton; five grandchildren, John (Marcia) Edwards, Rebecca (Osvaldo) Rodriguez, David (Candace) Edwards, Jennifer (Steven) Littlefield, and Paul Landmann; seven great grandchildren, Mikaela and Jacob Edwards, E.J. and Andrew Rodriguez, Alyssa and Kimberly Edwards, and Emma Littlefield; a sister, Ruth (Clarence) Groth of Mequon; a brother, H.F. (Shirley) Kollmeyer of Honolulu, HI; a brother-in-law, Stanley (Betty) Smith of Burlington; other relatives and friends.

She as preceded in death by a sister, Dolores Kollmeyer and a brother, Harold (Doris) Kollmeyer.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Aug. 22 at 4:00 p.m. at Myrhum - Patten Funeral & Cremation Service, West Bend, with Rev. James Eckblad of Immanuel United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Cemetery in Cedarburg on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.
