Evelyn H. Gruendemann

Evelyn H.  “Evy” Gruendemann passed away Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Ivy Manor in West Bend at age of 93.

The former Evelyn H. Kiesow was born January 18, 1931, in the Town of Liberty, daughter of the late Herbert and Flora (Bratz) Kiesow.   She grew up on the family farm, attended Town of Liberty schools, and was confirmed into the Lutheran Faith on April 28, 1944.  On February 16, 1963, Evelyn was united in marriage to William F. Gruendemann at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Manitowoc, he preceded her in death on August 2, 1994.

Prior to her marriage Evy worked at Mirro Aluminum Company and the Manitowoc Herald Times.  Evy was a stay-at-home mom while her girls were young and later worked at the West Bend Hotel, retiring in 1991.  She was a member of St. Lucas Ev. Lutheran Church in Kewaskum and later a member of Good Shepherd Ev. Lutheran Church in West Bend.  Evy was a talented seamstress, sewing her own wedding dress.  She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, making many stocking caps, baby blankets, & afghans that her family will continue to cherish.   Our mom was beautiful, sweet, kind, and generous and we will miss her dearly.

Survivors include her two daughters:  Gail (Scott) DalleAve of Wild Rose, Gwen of West Bend, grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.  Evy was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, Maryann Kiesow, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Henry (Helen) Kiesow, Walter (Gloria) Kiesow, three brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Carl (Evelyn) Gruendemann, Paul (Joyce) Gruendemann, and Lois (Hubert) Edwards.

The girls would like to thank their cousins, Margie and Ronald Hacker for the love and special attention to mom over the years.

Thank you to the caretakers and staff at Ivy Manor for the care given to our mom over the last 4 years and to Preceptor Hospice for their loving care and support over the last months of our mom’s life.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 777 Indiana Avenue, in West Bend from 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at 10:30 a.m.  Pastor Peter Schlicht will officiate with burial to follow at Lutheran Memorial Park Cemetery in Kewaskum.  Luncheon to follow.
