Evelyn M. Rinzel

August 10, 1919 — May 22, 2014

Evelyn M. Rinzel, 94, of Lomira, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac.

She was born on August 10, 1919, in Waukesha, the daughter of the late Joseph and Nora (Sheets) Becker. Following high school graduation, Evelyn attended teacher’s college and taught for ten years. She was united in marriage to Andrew Rinzel on August 23, 1944, in New Berlin. The couple farmed in the Germantown area for many years before moving to Lomira. Evelyn was a dedicated farm wife and mother. She was a hard worker and cooked and canned for her family. Andrew and Evelyn were married for 69 years before Andrew’s death on February 25, 2014.

Evelyn was a member of the Homemakers Club in Germantown and of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in LeRoy.  She enjoyed playing cards, especially sheepshead, and in her younger years, she enjoyed dancing.

Those Evelyn leaves behind to cherish her memory include three children, David (Anne) Rinzel of Lomira, Lois (Kenneth) Millikin of Hubertus and Janet Rinzel of Lomira; three granddaughters, Neela (Joseph) Erwin, Tia and Faith Rinzel, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Rinzel; a brother, Herbert (Marge) Becker and a sister, Leona (Harry) Raatz.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Evelyn was held at noon on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in LeRoy. Father Tom Biersack officiated and burial was in St. Matthias Catholic Cemetery in the town of Auburn.

The Rinzel family greeted relatives and friends at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.

Memorials to St. Andrew's Catholic Church or St. Matthias Chapel in the town of Auburn were appreciated.

The Kietzer-Miller Funeral Home in Lomira was entrusted with Evelyn's arrangements.
