Floyd W. Smith, 77, of Lomira, passed away on Monday, August 11, 2008, at his home.
He was born on May 19, 1931, in the Town of Byron, the son of the late William (Wesley) and Elsie (Nichols) Smith, and on June 21, 1952, he was united in marriage to Carol Mintner at Ebenezer Methodist Church in the town of Lomira. His wife preceded him in death on January 15, 1993.
Floyd was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lomira and was an independent truck driver for many years attaining the “million mile” recognition. He was a regular early morning patron at Susie’s Home Cooking restaurant in Lomira, and his favorite pastime was watching the work done by workers at various construction sites.
Survivors include five daughters, Cheryl (Gerry) Meyer of Brownsville, Barbara (Robert) Breitag of West Bend, Joy (Ed) Kikkert of Beaver Dam, Pamela Smith of DeForest and Tina Rawlins of Lomira; a brother, Dale (Shirley) Smith of Brownsville; 12 grandchildren, Brian Meyer, Tracy (Tristan) Kysely, Robert Meyer, Angela (Jason) Liegl, Tim Breitag, Scott (Caroline) Kikkert, Adam (Brandi) Kikkert, Tony (Becky) Kikkert, Colleen Jajewski, Daniel Jajewski, Beth Rawlins and Christopher Rawlins, nine great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Floyd was preceded in death by a grandson, Eric Meyer.
Funeral services for Floyd were held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2008, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 300 Church Street in Lomira. Rev. John Hobbins and Rev. Eric Kirkegaard officiated and burial followed in Ebenezer Cemetery in the town of Lomira.
Relatives and friends called at the church on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
