Frances Jesse Oldson (Zuidersma), age 87 years, of Kewaskum, was called home to be with the Lord on May 3, 2022.
Frances was born on February 21, 1935 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Frank and Jesse Zuidersma (Brunsink)
She was united in marriage with Dean A. Oldson on June 14, 1958. Dean passed away in January.
Frances was the model Pastor's wife. She attended Milwaukee Bible College in the late 50's where she met Dean. They married while he was still in school to become a Pastor. She moved with him from Michigan to Illinois, back to Michigan and then to New Jersey and South Dakota as he pastored at various churches. And although he 'retired' as a Pastor in the early 70's to become a teacher, they were both very active in church matters and bible study groups until the last few years. Sure Frances had some secretarial jobs throughout the years, but her first mission was to be a Pastor's wife and mother.
Frances was pretty much a homebody. She never learned to drive a car, so would mainly 'backseat drive' Dean's driving. But she put up with it enough to travel the west with Dean in their 5th wheel camper to Arizona and the Black Hills over the years. Again, the time spent in South Dakota was spent visiting friends and supporting the church there.
Also lovingly known as 'bland Fran', her tastes were not exotic, but she catered her meals to the tastes of Dean and her children. Fran did make a mean chocolate cookie and made some of the best jams and jellies around – a labor of love.
Those Frances leaves behind to cherish her memory include her sons David (Mary) Oldson and Paul Oldson, granddaughter Erin Oldson, grandson Noah Oldson and sister-in-law, Lois Baker (Floyd Jr.). She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Dean; Frances was preceded in death by her daughter Ruth Oldson ; sister Mary Lou and brother Thomas.
A Combined Memorial Service for Frances and Dean will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Kettle Moraine Bible Church (500 Lenora Drive, West Bend, WI 53090). A lunch reception will follow the service.
