Francey Ann Meils

Francey A. Meils (nee Johnson), age 93 years, of West Bend died on July 27, 2024 at Froedtert West Bend Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Francey was born on April 15, 1931 in Manitowoc to Theodore and Blanche Johnson (nee Baetke).  She was the wife of the late Eugene “Gene” Meils, who was a Milwaukee Firefighter.

Francey and Gene met at Briggs & Stratton and were married on Thanksgiving Day in 1951.

Francey is survived by her four children, Tom (Susan) Meils of Menomonee Falls, Jeanne (Gary) Trew of Fond du Lac, Mary Meils Zareczny of Appleton, and Ted (Kim) Meils of West Bend.  She is further survived by 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Francey was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Meils; and 2 great-grandchildren.

Francey was the youngest of four children and was raised in the Manitowoc Two Rivers area.  She loved telling colorful stories about her childhood.  She moved to Milwaukee at the age of 18, where she worked many jobs including First Wisconsin Bank & Trust, Dan’s Chicken Pie, and many department stores, floral shops, and greenhouses.

Francey kept busy with family camping trips, gardening, playing cards, visiting and praying with The Legion of Mary in Newburg and Holy Trinity Church in Newburg, where she will be laid to rest next to Gene at the Church Cemetery.

She was most recently a resident at The Waterford of West Bend Assisted Living.  The family is appreciative of the care and concern they showed to Francey in the last year and a half.

VISITATION:  Francey’s family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at Myrhum-Patten Funeral & Cremation Service – 1315 W Washington St. – West Bend, WI  53095.

SERVICE:  A Memorial Service in remembrance of Francey will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with Deacon Mike Koebel officiating.  Inurnment will be at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Newburg.
