Gary W. Burke, 65, of Adell, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2011, at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee.
He was born on April 4, 1946, in the town of Mitchell, the son of the late William and Sylvia (Schmidt) Burke. Gary was a graduate of Kewaskum High School and attended the agriculture short course in Madison. He was employed in the office at the West Bend Company in West Bend and later owned and operated Burke Livestock Trucking.
Gary was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Dundee.
Those Gary leaves behind to cherish his memory include his brother, Dale Burke (special friend, April) of Beechwood; his uncle, Elmer (Lois) Schmidt of Adell; his aunts, Phyllis (Howard) Narges of Waucousta, Carol (Ken) Koth of Kewaskum, Gayl Schmidt and Joyce Schmidt both of Beechwood; special friends, Norm and Joan Kruse of Kewaskum, other relatives, friends and his canine companion, Trigger.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by three uncles, Jerome Schmidt, Alvin “Mike” (Lillie) Schmidt and Eugene Schmidt and two aunts, Hazel (Martin) Roltgen and Phyllis (Francis) Baker.
Funeral services for Gary were held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, 2011, at Trinity Lutheran Church, W494 Elm Street in Dundee. Rev. Richard Schliewe officiated and burial was at 10:00 a.m. on Monday in the church cemetery.
Relatives and friends called at the church on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are preferred.
The Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum was entrusted with Gary’s arrangements.
Gary’s family extends their heartfelt appreciation to his cousin, Lori Koth, and to the doctors and staff of St. Luke’s for the wonderful care provided to Gary.
