Gary W. Hogan, age 48, of West Bend, passed away Wednesday February 15, 2006 at his home.
He was born on December 6, 1957 in Oakland, CA to Lawrence and Karen (nee Austin) Hogan. At a young age he moved with his family to the Eau Claire area. Gary graduated from North Eau Claire High School in the class of 1976, after which he attended Chippewa Valley Tech and specialized in Administration. In 1980 he joined the U.S. Air Force and was an information systems programming supervisor at Gunter AFB in Montgomery, AL. While in the service he also attended Auburn University, receiving a Bachelors Degree in Management of Information Systems, and a Masters Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis on international business. Gary was discharged in 1989, and from 1989 to 2000 he lived and worked in Japan and Thailand. He became fluent in both Japanese and Thai languages, and was involved in Sales and presentation of seminars on American Business Customs and later as a consultant for SPRC Petroleum in Sattahip, Thailand.
While in Thailand he met and married Phayom "Joy" Peamsoongnean on October 28, 1995 in Sikhiw, Thailand. Together they relocated their family to West Bend in 2000, and Gary became employed by SBC in the division of Long Distance Network Operations in Brookfield.
He is survived by his wife Joy; two children, Ryan Austin Hogan, and Pimpida Emily Hogan, both at home; his mother Karen Lewis of West Bend, and his father Lawrence Hogan of Fort Myers, FL; an aunt Sharon Cutsforth of Springfield, OR; two uncles William (Linda) Austin of Sarona, and Jon (Mary) Austin of Colchester, CT; a great aunt Marah Pratt of Aitken, MN; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services to celebrate Gary's Life will be held on Monday February 20th at 7:00 pm at Myrhum ~ Patten Funeral Home, West Bend. Rev. William Dushek will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 pm until the time of service. Burial will be Tuesday at 11:30 am in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Memorials to help with his children's education are appreciated.
