Gary L. Martin, 57, of Kewaskum, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2009, at Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk.
He was born on December 8, 1951, in West Bend, the son of the late Reuben and Harriet (Backhaus) Martin, and on November 1, 1975, he was united in marriage to Cindy Wiesner at St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kewaskum.
Gary was a member of St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kewaskum and a member of Union 113 Milwaukee. He enjoyed hunting and spending time at his cabin in Shawano. He owned Shlufty’s Inn in the town of Barton for the past 21 years.
Those Gary leaves behind to cherish his memories include his wife, Cindy; three children, Kevin (Melissa) Martin of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Ryan (partner, Erin) Martin of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Kelly Martin of Kewaskum; three nephews, David (Janine) Martin, Jeff (Lisa) Martin and Craig (Debbie) Martin all of Kewaskum; his parents-in-law, Alvin and Frances Wiesner of Brownsville, other relatives and friends. He was the great uncle of seven, and is also survived by his canine friends, Libby and Bucky.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by a brother, Alan Martin; an uncle, Howard Backhaus and two aunts, Caroline Eisentraut and Irene Stange.
Funeral services for Gary were held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2009, at the Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum. Rev. Timothy Henning officiated and private burial was in Lutheran Memorial Park in Kewaskum.
Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of services.
