George R. Calkins

George R. Calkins, age 78, of Allenton, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at the Aurora Medical Center in Hartford.

He was born on April 20, 1930 in Mercer, to the late George and Eva (nee Holmes) Calkins. On October 22, 1948 George was united in marriage to Gloria Haseleu at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in Reeseville. In 1952 George and Gloria settled in the Slinger-Allenton area.

George drove truck for Falls Block Company for 23 years, and also worked for Kasten Manufacturing in Allenton. He retired in 1983.

George was a member of the Teamsters Union - Local 695 and Local 200. He enjoyed bowling Sunday mornings on a league in Allenton. He also was a big Green Bay Packer fan.

George is survived by his wife, Gloria; five children, Jean (Charles) Doll of Allenton, George R. (Geraldine) Calkins, Jr. of West Bend, Betty (Stan) Ojstrsek of Hartford, Randy Lee Calkins (special friend, Patti Tacke) of Allenton, and Lori (special friend Michael Barth) Schuster of Horicon; six grandchildren, Peggy (Peter) Rudolf, Stacy (special friend Keith Kircher) Calkins, Scott Calkins, Christopher (Rhonda) Ojstrsek, Jennifer Ojstrsek, and Brittany Barth; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lyle (Donna) Calkins of Oshkosh, and William (Shirley) Calkins of Tigerton; three sisters, June Rockweiler of Oshkosh, Joyce Marquardt of Beaver Dam, and Bertha (Mort) Spears of Wild Rose; seven sisters-in-law, Jeanette Calkins of Oshkosh, Edna Calkins of Oshkosh, Lyla Kulow of Waterloo, Geraldine Heling of Waterloo, Lorraine Rice of Marshall, Delores (Donald) McGovern of Waterloo, and Shirley Stark of Waterloo; four brothers-in-law, Gordon (Phyllis) Haseleu of Barronette, Donald (Judy) Haseleu of Barronette, Richard Haseleu of Waterloo, and Duane Lainberger of Markesan; many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald Calkins, Leroy Calkins, and Frederick Calkins; three sisters, Loretta Miller, Irene Wright and Catherine Anderson.

Funeral services in remembrance of George will be held on Saturday, November 8th at 11:00 a.m. at the Myrhum ~ Patten Funeral Home, West Bend. Rev. George Mumm of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery, in the Town of Portland, Dodge County.
