George E. Eggert Jr

July 21, 1921 — October 18, 2011

George E. Eggert Jr., 90, of Kewaskum, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2011, at the Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk, where he had been for four days.

He was born on July 21, 1921, in Milwaukee, the son of the late George Sr. and Esther (Beck) Eggert. At the age of 21, George was drafted into the United States Air Force, serving his country from 1942 to 1946. On June 22, 1946, he was united in marriage to Ruth Wesenberg at St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kewaskum. George was employed at Regal Ware, Inc. in Kewaskum retiring after 47 ½ years of service. He also worked for the Kewaskum Community School System, was a member of the Kewaskum Auxiliary Police organization, a member of the XYZ Senior Citizen, a member of the Regal Ware 25 Year Club, and a member of St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church where he served on church committees.

George’s greatest pride was his family. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandpa. His love for his wife over the years was never ending. There was a special place in his heart for his grandchildren who both brought a smile to his face whenever he saw them or talked about them. George enjoyed going on trips with his family, enjoyed retirement, went to many dances with his wife and enjoyed just spending time with family and friends.

Those George leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 65 years, Ruth; two children, Mary (Gerald) Hammen of Plymouth and George III (Cynthia) Eggert of Kewaskum; two grandchildren, Jason (special friend Tina Knaus) and Michael Eggert all of Kewaskum; two sister-in-laws, Irene Hinn of Kewaskum, and Doris Wesenberg of Kewaskum; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents and his wife’s parents, Albert and Mary Wesenberg, George was preceded in death by a brother, Harold (Esther) Eggert; three brother-in-laws, Albert Wesenberg, Fred Wesenberg and Robert (Franceilia) Wesenberg; two nephews and three nieces.

A celebration of George’s life was held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2011, at St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1417 Parkview Drive in Kewaskum. Reverend Timothy Henning officiated and burial was on Saturday, October 22, 2011, at Lutheran Memorial Park in Kewaskum at 9:00 a.m. with military honor rites performed by members of the Robert G. Romaine American Legion Post 384 Kewaskum.

Relatives and friends called at the church on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.

A memorial fund has been established in his name to St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church and Kathy Hospice.

The Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum was entrusted with George's arrangements.

The family would like to thank Dr. Preisler for his years of care, Rev. Tim Henning and Rev. Troy Swenson for visits and prayers, the staff at Kettle Moraine Gardens and the staff at Kathy Hospice.
