George W. Striepling

George W. Striepling, 86, of West Bend, passed away Thursday, November 01, 2007 at the Cedar Lake Health and Rehabilitation Center, West Bend.

He was born on July 2, 1921 in Milwaukee to the late Edward and Amanda (nee Tank) Striepling. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was stationed in the Philippines during WWII. On September 21, 1946 George was united in marriage to Esther Linden at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Milwaukee.

George worked as a machinist for many years, retiring from Sunbeam-Oster in Glendale. He loved golfing and bowling and also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Esther "Honey" Striepling; a daughter, Cynthia (Del) Schmechel of Hubertus; two grandsons, Todd (Norene) Schmechel of Menomonee Falls, and Troy (Tannille) Schmechel of Slinger; six great-grandchildren, Karissa, Elizabeth, Cynthia, Michael, Madi, and Emma; a sister-in-law, Kathryn Jakubiak of Milwaukee; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred "Millie" (Ed) Kuster, three brothers, Edward "Eddie" Striepling, Howard "Hodge" Striepling, and William "Bill" Striepling; a sister-in-law, Mary Linden; and four brothers-in-law, Raymond Jakubiak, Paul (Edith) Linden, James (Tomie) Linden, and Howard Lauersdorf.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 4 at 4:30 p.m. at the Myrhum - Patten Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington St., West Bend. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.
