Gerald E. “Buddy” Schaeffer, 84, of Kewaskum, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at the Samaritan Health Center in West Bend.
He was born on July 10, 1927, in the town of Auburn, the son of the late John and Regina (Mueller) Schaeffer, and on September 5, 1953, he was united in marriage to Eunice Fox at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Dacada.
Buddy was employed by Fleet and Farm in West Bend for over 20 years, and he was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum. Buddy will fondly be remembered for his musical talent playing the organ and accordion, instruments he played by ear without reading notes.
Those Buddy leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of nearly 58 years, Eunice; three children, Jim (Nancy) Schaeffer of Penfield, New York, Rita (Ken) Frank of West Bend and Elaine (Ken) Miller of Phoenix, Arizona; six grandchildren, Rhonda (Frank) Kuge, Jesse Williams, Barbara Williams, Craig Frank, Alex Schaeffer and Nick Schaeffer; three great-grandchildren, Lily Williams, Kara and Colin Kuge, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Buddy was preceded in death by a brother, Paul; an infant brother, John Jr. and three sisters, Cyrilla (Al) Tischendorf, Marie (Albert) Thill and Rose (Ed) Weddig.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Buddy was held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2011, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 331 Main Street in Kewaskum. Father Edwin Kornath officiated and burial followed in the parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends called at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
The Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum was entrusted with Buddy’s arrangements.
