Gertrude L. Citta, (nee Loose), age 80, of West Bend, passed away Monday June 12, 2006 at SynergyHealth St. Joseph's Hospital, West Bend.
She was born on August 28, 1925 in Hilbert to the late William and Gertrude (Ohlsen) Loose, and was united in marriage to Steve Citta on August 9, 1945 in Denver, Co, where he was stationed in the U.S. Army Air Corp.
Together they made their home in Milwaukee. Gertrude was an active member of her church in Milwaukee and also an active wife and mother while raising her six children.
In 1987, after Steve's retirement, they moved to West Bend, and became members of New Hope United Church of Christ in Jackson. Gertrude enjoyed playing cards and baking for her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Steve; six children, Carol (John Jr.) Schell of West Bend, Danny Citta of Gainesville, TX, Rick (Lory) Citta of Milwaukee, Paul (Kathy) Citta of Edgerton, Patrick (Lisa) Citta of San Antonio, TX, and Greg (Jeanette) Citta of Balground, GA; 17 grandchildren, Jamie & John III Schell, Mary (Pat) Henson, Todd & John Citta, Matt & Kevin Citta, Tom, Dominic, Jennifer, & Lori Beth Citta, Christian & Abrianna Citta, Christi & Michelle Citta, Cathryn & Joseph Citta; six great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Rose Bartolotta of Milwaukee, Nina Ferrito of Milwaukee, and Joyce Loose of McFarland, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Florence Krentz and Alice Schrank; a brother Milton Loose; and a sister-in-law Mary Kent.
A Memorial Service to remember Gertrude's life will be held on Saturday June 17th at 3:00 pm at the Myrhum ~ Patten Funeral Home, West Bend. Rev. Phil Schrank will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 pm until the time of service. Memorials to New Hope U.C.C. or Cedar Community are appreciated. Cremation took place at Myrhum ~ Patten Cremation Service, and burial of Gertrude's cremated remains will be in Washington County Memorial Park.
