Gertrude L. Kaschner

Gertrude Louise Kaschner, 87, of Kewaskum, passed away on Friday, April 30, 2010, at Ivy Manor in Campbellsport, surrounded by her loving daughters.


She was born on December 7, 1922, in the town of Germantown, the daughter of the late Gerhard and Frieda (Krueger) Groth, and on August 21, 1943, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Kaschner at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistadt. The couple farmed in the town of Auburn for 25 years. Kenneth and Gertrude celebrated 61 years of marriage before her husband’s death on November 17, 2004.


Gertrude was a member of St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kewaskum, where she enjoyed teaching Sunday school for many years. She was also a member of the Ladies Aid and Guild.


For many years, Gertrude worked in the Kewaskum Grade School cafeteria. Gertrude will fondly be remembered for the enjoyment she received playing cards and her passion for working on her family history books. She had several books published. Gertrude will be missed by many, as she was a very outgoing person and a friend to all.


Those Gertrude leaves behind to cherish her memory include three children, Karen (Harold) Haack of Fond du Lac, Diane (Kenneth) Majerus of Campbellsport and Leslie (Jan) Kaschner of Chicago; eight grandchildren, Timothy Haack, Jennifer (Joseph) Jakubicz, Brian (Jacqueline) Haack and Lynn (Jason) Baumann all of Fond du Lac, Keith Haack (fiancée, Jennifer Ninnemann) of Appleton, Julie (Nathan) Wagenknecht of Leon, Mexico, Michael Majerus of Fond du Lac and Bradley Kaschner (fiancée, Gillia Bowlds) of Winter Garden, Florida; five great-grandchildren, Jordan, Christian, Olivia, Joshua and Addison; a brother, Marvin (Lois) Groth of Waupun; two sisters-in-law, Geraldine Ciriacks of West Bend and Viola Seifert of Mequon, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


In addition to her husband and parents, Gertrude was preceded in death by an infant sister, Esther and three brothers-in-law, Roman (Ruth) Kaschner, Carl Ciriacks and Ervin Seifert.


Funeral services for Gertrude were held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 7, 2010, at St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1417 Parkview Drive in Kewaskum. Rev. Timothy Henning officiated and burial followed in Lutheran Memorial Park in Kewaskum.


Relatives and friends called at the church on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services.

Gertrude’s family would like to thank Kay and Sue and the wonderful staff at Ivy Manor where mom made her home for the last four years. You were her extended family and she loved you all dearly!
