Gertrude Anne Young, age 88, of West Bend, passed away Friday October 29, 2004, at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center.
She was born on May 31, 1916 in Merrill, WI to the late Herman and Bertha (Hackbarth) Cohrs, and was united in marriage to Ray C. (Bud) Young on July 25, 1935 in Merrill. Gertrude had worked as a secretary at Jefferson School in Merrill from 1963 until her retirement in 1983. In 1986 they moved to Georgia. Ray preceded her in death in 1989, and in 1992 Gertrude moved to West Bend to be closer to her daughter Barbara. She was a member of Pilgrim Ev. Lutheran Church in West Bend.
Gertrude is survived by three daughters, Barbara (Phillip) Zangl of West Bend, Laraine (Timothy) Peterson of Waleska GA, and Dodie (John) Rockelmann of McAllen TX; one son Steven (Lavonna) Young of Merrill; Four sisters-in-law, Damaris Young, Dorothy Nelson, Mary Quinn, and Adelia Cohrs; 15 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Marilyn Young and Marie Beesley, one son Richard Young, a granddaughter Tanya Young, a great grandson Dayne Brazeau, two sisters Erna Koblitz and Lydia Latzel, along with a brother Arthur Cohrs.
Private family services were held at Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, West Bend on Saturday October 30, 2004. Pastor David Meyer officiated. Cremation took place at Myrhum ~ Patten Funeral & Cremation Service and burial of her cremated remains will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Merrill. Memorials to Pilgrim Ev. Lutheran Church, West Bend are appreciated.
