Gertrude E. Coulter, 76, of the town of Wayne, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at Hope Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lomira.
She was born on January 5, 1938, in Lebanon, the daughter of the late Leonard and Dorothy (Lutz) Grulke, and on October 17, 1959, she was united in marriage to Kermit Coulter in Lebanon.
Gertrude was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in the town of Wayne. She enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, reading, doing word searches and keeping up on local events.
Those Gertrude leaves behind to cherish her memory include her husband of 54 years, Kermit; two children, Russell Coulter of the town of Wayne and Dawn Coulter (special friend, John) of Mayville; two sisters, Margie (Robert) Daniels of Waupun and Myrtle VanHorn of Neillsville; Donald Grulke of Watertown (who Gertrude thought of as a brother), nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and the family canine companion, Squeaky.
In addition to her parents, Gertrude was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth (Marvin) Schuett; a brother-in-law, Donald VanHorn and a nephew, Rocky Peil.
Funeral services for Gertrude were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at Salem United Church of Christ in the town of Wayne. Pastor Ruth Hansen officiated and burial followed in the church cemetery.
The Coulter family greeted relatives and friends at the church on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services.
Memorials to Salem United Church of Christ are appreciated.
The Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum was entrusted with Gertrude's arrangements.
