Gilbert G. Bruss

Gilbert G. Bruss, 82, of West Bend, passed away Monday, June 7, 2010 at the Hartford Aurora Medical Center.

He was born September 14, 1927 in Calumet County to the late Arthur and Blandina (nee Rathke) Bruss. He served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1948 in Korea. Gil was united in marriage to Lauraine C. Schultz on September 13, 1950 in Wayside, WI.

He was employed as a Foreman at the West Bend Company for 33 years and was a member of the 25 Year Club. After retiring from the West Bend Company he then worked at Barton Products for several years.

Gil was a faithful member, volunteer, and Elder at St. Andrew Lutheran Church. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Lauraine; three children, Terry (Heidi) Bruss of Addison, IL, Ricky (Linda) Bruss of West Bend, and Carla (Larry) Wahler of Sterling, IL; six grandchildren, Tamara (Todd Bradley) Clark, Jennifer (Matt Ahorner) Clark, Alyssa (Shane) Kempfer, Chad Bruss, Kelly Bruss, and Jessica Bruss; four great-grandchildren, Nico Bradley, Kayla Kempfer, Jordan Kempfer, and Austina Kempfer; two sisters, Hilda Hacker of Ashwaubenon, and Eldora (Darrell) Stanelle of Forest Junction; a brother, Herold (Elna) Bruss of Green Bay; 3 sisters-in-law, Eleanor Fieck, Esther Nohr, Gertrude Pagel; three brothers-in-law, Gilbert Schultz, Arthur (Marlene) Schultz, Jr., and Marvin (Kathy) Behnke; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Andrew Clark; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Kamke, Florence Allen, and Cecilia Behnke; and two brothers-in-law, Harold Hacker and Harold Schultz.

Funeral services in remembrance of Gil will be held on Friday, June 11 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 7750 Hwy. 144 North, West Bend. Rev. Robert Korytkowski will officiate and cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to St. Andrew Lutheran Church or Concordia University - Wisconsin Physical Therapy Dept.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Hartford Aurora Hospital and the staff of the Samaritan Health Center in West Bend.
