Gilbert P. Ultsch, 83, of New Fane, formerly of Racine, passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law.
He was born on September 16, 1929, in Racine, the son of the late John and Hedwig (Brux) Ultsch, and on June 30, 1956, he was united in marriage to Barbara Nelson in Racine. Barbara preceded Gilbert in death on October 20, 1997.
Gilbert proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean War. Before retirement, he was employed by Twin Disc in Racine for 19 years and for seven years by the Racine County Sheriff’s Department. Gilbert was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in New Fane.
Those Gilbert leaves behind to cherish his memory include three daughters, Marikay (David) Sheppard of Racine, Luanne (Rev. Mark) Eckert of New Fane and Jennifer Penza of Florida; ten grandchildren, Jessica (Jermaine) Sorenson, Anthony Rognsvoog, Daniel (Sarah) Eckert, Steven (Alison) Eckert, Sandra (Michael) Perez, Alan Eckert, Benjamin Eckert, Mahrya Eckert, Sydney Penza and Andrea Penza; nine great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Gilbert was preceded in death by three brothers, a sister and an infant son, Thomas.
A private memorial service for Gilbert was held on Saturday, February 16, 2013, at St. John Lutheran Church in New Fane with Rev. Mark Eckert officiating. Military honor rites followed the service and burial of his cremains were in the church cemetery.
The Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum was entrusted with Gilbert’s arrangements.
