Glenway E. "Glen" Taylor, Jr., 81, of West Bend, passed away Friday, July 13, 2007 at SynergyHealth St. Joseph's Hospital, West Bend.
He was born on Jan. 22, 1926 in Young America to the late Glen and Helen (nee Johnson) Taylor. He served in the U.S. Navy Sea Bees during WWII. Glen was united in marriage to Alice McNamara on May 9, 1951 at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Campbellsport.
Glen and his brother, Wesley, owned and operated West Bend and Mequon Vacuum for over 40 years and their families continue to operate the businesses today. Glen enjoyed his retirement, spending time with his family. He also enjoyed traveling and gambling. He loved the outdoors and nature and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his wife, Alice; five children, Douglas (Jo Ann) Taylor of West Bend, Ron Taylor of West Bend, Duane (Eileen) Taylor of West Bend, Jane (Jim) Clark of Mequon, and Sandy Smith of West Bend; 11 grandchildren, Valerie, Kevin, Danny, Andy, Jeff, Jenny, Ashley, Taylor, Austin, Brittany and Brooke; his brother and best friend, Wesley (Ann) Taylor of West Bend; many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his a sister, Virginia Engelbert, and three brothers, Clifford Taylor, Everett Taylor and Allen Taylor.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 17 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Church, 1610 Monroe St., West Bend. Rev. Michael Moran will preside and burial will be in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend, on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.
