Gordon F. Mcchain, Jr

April 30, 1939 — May 17, 2009

Gordon F. McChain, Jr., 70, of Glenbeulah and formerly of the Washington County area, was gently handed to the Lord by his family on Sunday, May 17, 2009.


He was born on April 30, 1939, in Milwaukee, the son of the late Gordon F. and Ruth F. (Stanelle) McChain, Sr., and on January 8, 1961, he was united in marriage to Rosa Ann DeShazer at Fort Wolters, Texas.


Gordon was a graduate of Kewaskum High School. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army for over 20 years, retiring on June 30, 1978, as a CW2. He served during the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts and was stationed overseas and throughout the United States. After his retirement from the military, the McChain family made their home near the West Bend area and Gordon was employed by the Veteran’s Administration for 20 years. After retiring from the VA, Gordon and Rosa Ann enjoyed ten years of recreational vehicle traveling.


Gordon was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Batavia.


Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Rosa Ann; four children, Timothy T. McChain (Tammy) of Woodbridge, Virginia, Ruth A. McChain of Kewaskum, Nancy D. Zettler (Chad) of West Bend and Debra N. (Garett) Mielkie of Kewaskum; eight grandchildren, Gregory (Amanda), Julia, Laura, Robert (Jessica), Savannah, Morgan, Breanna and Justin; two brothers, James McChain of Kewaskum and David (Betsy) McChain of Milwaukee, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, extended family and friends from coast to coast, including Hawaii.


In addition to his parents, Gordon was preceded in death by a brother, Russell L. McChain and a sister-in-law, Gloria McChain.


Funeral services for Gordon were held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2009, at Zion United Methodist Church, Highway 28 in Batavia. Rev. Gail Mitchell officiated and burial, with military graveside rites by the Robert G. Romaine American Legion Post 384 Kewaskum, followed in the church cemetery.


Relatives and friends called at the church on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services.
