Gordon "Gordy" Strassman

October 19, 1931 — August 18, 2013

Gordon A. “Gordy” Strassman, 81, of Brownsville, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Gordon was born on October 19, 1931, in the Town of Lomira the son of Alvin and Cyrena (Wetzel) Strassman, and on May 23, 1953, he was united in marriage to Eileen Klemp at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (Halfway Church) in the Town of Lomira.

Gordon was a lifelong farmer in the Town of Lomira. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lomira, where he served on the Church Council.  He was also a member of the Dodge County Civil Defense, Rock River Baseball League and the Wisconsin Farmers Union at the local and state level, and was a lifelong member of the Knowles Fire Department where he proudly served.  Gordon will fondly be remembered for his great sense of humor and quick wit.  He will be deeply missed by his wife, family and by all who knew him.

Those Gordon leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 60 years, Eileen; four children, Denice (Daniel) Krofta of Tomah, Christine (Daniel) Loest of Fond du Lac, Larry Strassman (special friend, Amy Timm) of the Town of Lomira and Julie (Matt) Thelen of Ashford; his mother, Cyrena Strassman of Brownsville;  three brothers, David (Grace) Strassman of Brownsville, Arthur Strassman of Texas and Neil (Claudia) Strassman of St. Kilian; eight grandchildren, Eric and Kevin Krofta, Kaitlyn and Cassaundra Loest, Michaela, Hannah and Jon Thelen and Ashley (Brian) Fisher, other relatives and friends.

Gordon was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Strassman and two brothers, Allen and Roger Strassman.

Funeral services for Gordon were held at noon on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lomira. Rev. Dan Schmidt officiated and entombment followed in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum in Fond du Lac.

The Strassman family greeted relatives and friends at the Kietzer-Miller Funeral Home in Lomira on Wednesday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.

Memorials in Gordon’s memory to St. John’s Building Fund or Agnesian Hospice Hope are appreciated.
