Harold H. Schowalter

July 7, 1915 — January 8, 2005

Harold H. Schowalter, age 89, of the Town of Richfield passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2005.

He was born in the town of Jackson on July 7, 1915 to the late Alwin and Frieda (nee Dotter) Schowalter. Harold graduated from West Bend High School in 1934. He was united in marriage to Beatrice O'Connor on October 17, 1942 in Milwaukee. She preceded him in death on October 14, 1990.

Shortly after their marriage, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corp. and served during WW II until his honorable discharge in 1948. After serving his country Harold worked for Cutler Hammer in Milwaukee, in the quality Control department.

He was a 43-year member of the S/Sgt. Henry F. Gumm American Legion Post #486 where he would enjoy golf outings, bowling, and playing sheepshead with the guys. He was also an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting. He enjoyed tinkering with electrical and mechanical devices and was a skilled woodcarver with a creative imagination. He was a man with a lively sense of humor who enjoyed bringing a smile to those around him. Through his passion for planting trees and his love of nature, he will leave this world a more beautiful place.

Harold is survived by five children, Wayne Schowalter of the Town of Jackson, Kathryn Schowalter of Random Lake, Connie (Ben) Hamilton of Boise, ID, Mike (Bonnie) Schowalter of Hartford, and Jeff (Tammy) Schowalter of Pasadena, MD; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Delbert Schowalter, Alwin Jr. (Virginia) Schowalter, and Rev. Quintin (Ann) Schowalter; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Wilbert (Ruth) Schowalter and a sister-in-law, Trudy Schowalter.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at 6:00 pm at Myrhum-Patten Funeral & Cremation Service of West Bend. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3:00 pm until the time of service. Cremation will follow with inurnment in Washington County Memorial Park.
