Helen L. Beck, 98, of the town of Farmington, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2009, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in the town of Polk from complications of old age.
She was born on October 10, 1910, in Walworth County, township of Lynn, the daughter of the late John and Rose (Leyendecker) Sagert, and on October 1, 1932, she was united in marriage to Edward T. Beck at Hope Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Her husband of sixty-seven years preceded Helen in death on December 19, 1999.
Helen was a member of St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kewaskum and was a member of the Homemakers Organization for over sixty years from Marathon and Sawyer counties to Washington county (Farmington Handi-Maids). She was a Home-Furnishing and Sewing leader in the B-Mer-E 4-H club for several years. Helen’s other passions in life, besides her husband, were reading, painting and stitching pictures.
Those Helen leaves behind to cherish her memories include five children, Eugene W. Beck of Soldier, Kansas, Arthur J. (Maryann) Beck of Denver, Colorado, Edward T. Beck of West Allis, Marjorie A. Schieble of Cleveland, Wisconsin and Esther J. Beck of Denver, Colorado; four grandchildren, Scott Schieble, Daniel Schieble, Diana (Robert) Thompson and Kimberly Gibson; five great-grandchildren, Ryan Schieble, Kayla Gibson, Paige Gibson, Charlie Angel Thompson and Chance Thompson; a brother, Leroy Sagert of Washougal, Washington, 22 nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Helen was preceded in death by three brothers and their spouses, John C. (Beulah), Glenn (Grace) and Ralph (Rose) Sagert and a sister-in-law, Eleanor Sagert.
Funeral services for Helen were held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2009, at St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1417 Parkview Drive in Kewaskum. Rev. Troy Swenson officiated and burial was at 10:00 a.m. on Friday in Lutheran Memorial Park in Kewaskum.
Relatives and friends called at the church on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of services.
