Henry M. “Hank” Leisner, 88, of Kewaskum, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 7, 2008, four days short of his 89th birthday, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on May 11, 1919, in Escanaba, Michigan, the son of the late Harry and Anna (Herson) Leisner and on February 19, 1943, he was united in marriage to Harriette Vogl at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Milwaukee.
Henry was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum and a member of St. Joseph’s Benevolent Society since 1948. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army Air Force during World War II. After serving in the Army Air Force, he and his family resided in Milwaukee and Menomonee Falls while he was employed for almost 30 years at Continental Equipment Corporation. After his retirement in 1983, he and his wife moved to Grand Marsh, Wisconsin where they made their home until moving to Kewaskum in 2004.
Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Harriette; his three children, Kathleen (Myron) Krueger of Horicon, Gregory (Janice) Leisner of Milwaukee and Annette (James) Jakubiak of Mequon and a son-in-law, Dennis Hacker of Slinger. Henry was the proud grandfather of nine grandchildren, Shawn and Brian (Renee) Hacker, Shelly (Mark) Gibbon, Melissa (Brian) Hess, Eric, Jared and Brandon Leisner, Elizabeth and Emily Jakubiak and great-grandfather of six great-grandchildren, Alexis and Haley Gibbon, Austin, Mikalah and Madison Hess and Tori Hacker. He is also survived by a nephew, two nieces, other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded by a brother, William Hamm and a sister, Rose Toushak.
A Memorial Mass for Henry was held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2008, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 8881 Forest View Road, Kewaskum (St. Michaels). Father Edwin Kornath officiated and entombment of the cremains was at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield.
The family received visitors at the church on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of Mass.
