Henry A. Oppermann

Henry A. Oppermann, 88, of the town of Auburn, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2006, at The Kathy Hospice in the Town of Polk.


He was born on February 15, 1918, in the town of Auburn, the son of the late Henry Oppermann and Ida (Bartelt) Oppermann, and on April 26, 1941, he was united in marriage to Verna Butzke at St. John Lutheran Church in New Fane. His wife preceded him in death on December 18, 1998.


Henry was a lifelong dairy farmer in the town of Auburn and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in New Fane.


Survivors include six children, Ronald (Barbara) Oppermann of rural Campbellsport, Leander (Janis) Oppermann of Kewaskum, Henry (Anne Carmichael) Oppermann of New Orleans, Louisiana, Sandra (Kenneth) Harter of rural Campbellsport, Claudia Skrentny of Kewaskum, and Judith Oppermann of Kewaskum; seven grandchildren, Corey (Jenny) Oppermann, Shane (Melissa) Oppermann, Sheldon (Jessica) Oppermann, Kristine (Joel) Carberry, Brian (Angela) Skrentny, Regina (James) Griesbach, and Candice (Carl) Bartoli; nineteen great-grandchildren, Amanda, Matthew, Jonathan, Brandon, Shannon, Brittney, Tori, Jacob, Josiah, Isaiah, Samuel, Moriah, Judah, Chloe, Lucas, Jade, Sophia, Lauren, and Sara; a sister, Malinda Garbisch of Random Lake; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Oppermann and Athleen Butzke, both of Campbellsport, many nieces and nephews and other relatives and many friends.


In addition to his wife and parents, Henry was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeffery Harter; a granddaughter, Brenda Harter; two sisters, Lucinda (Henry) Mess and Marie (Wilbur) Kleinke; four brothers-in-law, Raymond Garbisch, Wilson Oppermann, Melvin Butzke and Glenn (Nila) Butzke, and a nephew, Myron Oppermann.


Funeral services for Henry were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2006, at St. John Lutheran Church, N665 Hwy. S, Kewaskum (New Fane). Rev. Mark Eckert officiated and burial followed in the church cemetery.


Relatives and friends called on Friday at the Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
