Herbert Abel

Herbert M. Abel, age 84, of the Town of Barton, passed away on Monday, April 30, 2012 at the Kathy Hospice in the Town of Polk.

Herbert was born on June 30, 1927, in West Bend, to the late Herbert and Frieda (nee Bartelt) Abel. He graduated from West Bend High School in the class of 1945. On October 24, 1953, Herbert was united in marriage to Deloris Utech at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church.

He worked as a Service Technician for Sears, retiring in 1990.

Herbert was a life member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and being up at Lake Noquebay. He is survived by his wife, Deloris Abel of the Town of Barton; four children, Melvin (Nancy) Abel of Greenwood, Audrey (Jim) Kell of West Bend, Brian (Mary) Abel of West Bend, and Christine Abel of Cascade; ten grandchildren, Jeremy (Brenda) Kell, Angie (Eric) Schmoldt, Amber (Jerry) Halopka, Joe (Liz) Kell, Aly (fiancAC., Aaron Hauser) Kell, Breenna Abel, Cassie Abel, Trevor Abel, Adam (Kelly) Abel, and Rebekah (Adam) Dorwaldt; eight great-grandchildren, Logan Kell, Nicholas Kell, Hayden Schmoldt, Gabe Halopka, Nathanael Halopka, Bennett Abel, Hannah Dorwaldt, and Emily Dorwaldt; sister-in-law, Arleen Stern of Fond du Lac; brother-in-law, August (Lillian) Utech of West Bend; other relatives and friends. Herbert was preceded in death by his parents; brother, LeRoy Abel; and brother-in-law, Richard Stern.

Funeral services in remembrance of Herbert will be held on Friday, May 4th at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, 809 S. 6th Avenue, West Bend with Rev. Jeff Dorth officiating. Burial will follow in Washington County Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 3rd at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington Street, West Bend from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
