Hilda D. Hebard

Hilda Hebard, (nee Fink), age 87, of West Bend, passed away on Monday, September 10, 2007 at her residence.

She was born on May 20, 1920 in Sheldon, WI, to the late Rudolf and Della (nee Niepow) Fink. She was raised in the Sheldon area. After finishing school she worked as a clerk for Brown's General Store in Sheldon where she met the love of her life. On Christmas day, December 25, 1942, she was united in marriage to Francis Hebard at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Sheldon. Together they moved to West Bend in 1951 and Hilda began working at Shultz's 5 and 10. She eventually became a cashier at Sentry Foods in West Bend before retiring. Hilda was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in West Bend and was a very active member of the church's Ladies Aid. She was a great baker and enjoyed her flower garden, especially the Violets.

Hilda is survived by her three children, Charlotte (Ward) Ciriacks of West Bend, Janice Kempf of West Bend, and Gary (Jill) Hebard of Fond du Lac; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. She is further survived by a sister-in-law, Margaret Hebard of Texas; and three brothers-in-law, Leonard (Bernice) Hebard of Ladysmith, Allen (Jackie) Hebard of Missouri, and Jim Bennett of Westfield, WI.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis; her parents; her great-grandson, Austin Busse; her sister, Sadie Fink; two sisters-in-law, Iris Bennett, and Lucille Hebard; two brothers-in-law, Alvin and Lester Hebard.

A funeral service in honor of Hilda's life will be held on Thursday, September 13, at 11:00 am at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in West Bend. Rev. George Mumm will officiate. Visitation with the family will be at the church on Thursday from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Cedar Community Hospice for the compassionate care that was given to Hilda and her family.
