Howard L. Laufer, age 90, of West Bend, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at the Cedar Lake Health and Rehabilitation Center in the town of West Bend.
He was born on February 24, 1921 to the late Albert and Elizabeth (nee Hart) Laufer in West Bend. Following high school Howard worked at West Bend Woolen Mills where he met the love of his life Marion Brieske. They were united in marriage on May 22, 1943 at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Together Howard and Marion farmed in the town of Trenton. During that time, Howard also worked for Lawrence Stockhausen construction. Howard was an avid Packer and Brewer fan. He loved playing Sheepshead and later in life when time allowed, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and family.
Howard is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Marion; his four children, Kenneth (Mary) Laufer Sr. of Fond du Lac, Sharon (Henry) Tesker of West Bend, Christine (James) Hundertmark of Fond du Lac, and Keith (Nancy) Laufer of West Bend; 10 grandchildren, Kenny Jo (Ginger) Laufer Jr. of West Bend, Kevin (Kris) Laufer of West Allis, Kirk (fiancAC.e Amy Goodlend) Laufer of West Bend, John Tesker of West Bend, Steven (Shelly) Tesker of Campbellsport, Nicole Hundertmark of Las Vegas, NV, Susan (Luke) Murtha of Fond du Lac, Andy Laufer of West Bend, Ryan (Stephanie) Laufer of West Bend, and Dana (Mike) Lechner of West Bend; 8 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and one brother.
A Mass of Christian Burial in honor of Howard will be held on Monday, February 13th, at 10:30 am at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church (1025 S. 7th Ave. West Bend). Rev. Nathan Reesman will preside and burial will follow in Washington County Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 12th, from 12:00 pm until 3:00 pm at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home (1315 W. Washington St. West Bend) and again on Monday at the church from 9:30 am until the time of mass.
