Inez C. Tennies, (nee Rutz) age 90, of West Bend, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center.
She was born on August 26, 1915 in Milwaukee to the late Louis and Louise (nee Kehrer) Rutz. After high school she attended Milwaukee Business School. Inez then worked as a telephone operator in Milwaukee until she was united in marriage to Webster J. Tennies on April 15, 1944 in Milwaukee. They lived where he was stationed during WWII, and after his discharge they moved to the West Bend area and started building the Tennies Buick garage. Inez helped Web operate the Buick garage until their retirement, after which they moved to Lake Winnebago.
Inez had been an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in West Bend, Member and past president of Trinity Dorcas Society, and a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the Women of the Moose West Bend Lodge #1398, member of the Fred A. Schaefer VFW Post #1393 Ladies Auxiliary, Lt. Ray Dickop American Legion Post #36 Ladies Auxiliary, Past Member of the West Bend Women's Club, and Past Leader of the Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts.
She is survived by two children, Sherrie (Bob) Burgdorf of Oshkosh, and Ed (Sharon) Tennies of West Bend; six grandchildren, Andrew, Bethany, and David Burgdorf, Brian, Jason, and Tyler Tennies; five sisters-in-law, Rosemary Rutz of West Bend, Cecilia Strupp of West Bend, Helen Ackerman of West Bend, Catherine Kuepper of Slinger, and Elizabeth (Venice) Straub of Fond du Lac; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Louis Rutz.
Funeral services to celebrate Inez's life will be held on Friday, January 20th at 6:30 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, West Bend. Rev. David Schoob will officiate. Visitation will be Friday at the church only from 3:30 pm until the time of service. Burial will be Saturday morning in Washington County Memorial Park.
