Ione H. Guth, (nee Schloemer) age 87, of West Bend, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2007 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Baxter, MN.
She was born in West Bend on October 6, 1919 to the late Henry and Julia (nee Schubert) Schloemer, and graduated from West Bend High School in the class of 1938. On February 12, 1942 Ione was united in marriage to Paul Guth at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in West Bend.
Ione was a lifetime member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, West Bend. She enjoyed cooking for her family and many friends, and was famous for her hamburgers and brownies. Ione was also an excellent crossword puzzle solver, and gardener. She and her husband Paul moved to the Diamond Willow Assisted Living Center in 2006 to be closer to their daughter.
She is survived by her husband, Paul; a daughter, Julie T. Guth of Ironton, MN; a sister-in-law, Louise (John) Roth of West Bend; two nieces, Penny Fitzsimmons of West Bend, and Joan Ganzel of West Bend; two nephews, James (Andrea) Schloemer of Fox Point, and John (Marcia) Harth of Anchorage, AK; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Beulah Schloemer; two brothers, Maurice Schloemer and Vernon Schloemer; a sister-in-law, Helen Schloemer; and a nephew, Thomas Schloemer.
Funeral services for Ione will be held on Thursday, January 18th at 2:00 pm at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church. Rev. George Mumm will officiate and burial will follow in Washington County Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 1:00 pm until the time of service.
