Irmgard R. “Bunny” Spors, 89, of West Bend, passed on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at her home.
Bunny was born on March 16, 1934, in Milwaukee, the daughter of German immigrants Eugene and Ida (nee Wurm) Deiss. She grew up in Milwaukee, but spent her summers with the family at their cottage on Silver Lake in West Bend. She graduated as the Valedictorian of her class from Custer High School in Milwaukee.
It was at the quaint little cottage on Silver Lake where Bunny met her future husband, James A. Spors. The couple married on April 18, 1953, and raised their five children together on Silver Lake until James’s passing on December 29, 1974.
Bunny then began her employment at The West Bend Company working as a secretary, before going off to Moraine Park Technical College to learn multiple computer languages and eventually, taught classes there along with acting as the technical support specialist at The West Bend Company.
Even after she retired from The West Bend Company after her many years of service, Bunny kept her computer skills to use through her assistance in her church, condo association, and helping her granddaughter, Lexi Bullis, get her soap business up-and-running to support her dream of Olympic snowboarding, up until the day Bunny passed away.
Bunny was a strong and smart woman, a kind and loving matriarch of her family, and she leaves behind a large legacy to carry on her memory, including her five children: Mark Spors, Diane (Tim) McNulty, Kathleen Murphy, Daniel (Barb) Spors, and Therese (Eric) Gesteland. Bunny also was loved by her 13 dear grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Her sister, Margaret Woitekaitis, her sisters-in-law, Marie Spors-Murphy and Kristine Deiss, and all of her nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends will carry the memory of Bunny in their hearts forever.
Bunny was met at Heaven’s Gates by her parents and husband; as well as her brothers, Eugene and Robert Deiss; and brother-in-law, Jerry Spors.
There will be no formal funeral services for Bunny, but a Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.
A special thank you to the paramedics with the West Bend Fire Department, officers with the West Bend Police Department, the staff of Froedtert West Bend Hospital Emergency Department, and the staff of Myrhum-Patten Funeral & Cremation Service for their care and help during this unexpected time.
