Iva D. Parker (nee Glaesman), age 94, of West Bend, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Ivy Manor in Campbellsport.
She was born on June 23, 1918 in Markesan to the late William and Rose (nee Ewald) Glaesman. She attended Markesan schools, graduating in 1936. She enjoyed music, and it was always a very important part of her life. A self-taught church organist, she also was an accompanist for many civic functions as well as belonging to various vocal groups. In 1940 she was united in marriage to William (Bill) Bartel. They lived in Markesan, where they operated a bakery for a number of years. She later did retail work and then office work for both canning companies as well as Markesan District Schools.
Following her marriage to Milton Parker, they lived in Waupun, where she was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and the Order of Easter Star. She lived in Beaver Dam for several years, and in 1988 became a resident of Cedar Ridge in West Bend, where she will be remembered as a dedicated volunteer in the music program on Cedar Campuses. Iva spent her final years as a resident of Ivy Manor in Campbellsport.
Survivors include one sister, Verna Kellom of Beaver Dam; a brother-in-law, Dwight Johnson of West Bend; four nieces, Gwen Williams, Gayle (Greg) Dombro, Sherron (Harold) Challis, and Kay (Tim) Hansen; a nephew, Gar (Kolleen) Kellom; and other special relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; a sister, Arla Johnson; a brother-in-law, Emerson Kellom; and a nephew-in-law, Tom Williams.
A memorial service in honor of Iva will be held on Saturday, June 8th at 2:00 pm at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home (1315 W. Washington St. West Bend). Visitation will be on Saturday at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until the time of service. Burial will follow the service in Markesan Memorial Cemetery.
Memorials to Cedar Community Choristers Fund (113 Cedar Ridge Dr. West Bend, WI 53095) in honor of Iva would be greatly appreciated by the family.
