Jack Timmer, 62, of Big Cedar Lake, passed away Monday, March 5, 2012 at his home.
He was born in Wisconsin and lived his entire life on Big Cedar Lake, near West Bend. Jack graduated from West Bend High School and went on to earn a degree in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison before completing a degree in Culinary Arts from Moraine Park Technical College.
In 1981, Jack became the 4th generation of the Timmer family to operate the restaurant and resort, Timmer's, on Big Cedar Lake. He ran Timmer's until 2006.
From 2006 on, Jack dedicated his time to helping those in need by volunteering for many organizations, including: the Red Cross Disaster Action Team (most notably helping the victims of Hurricane Katrina), the Wisconsin Stars and Stripes Honor Flight, the Fisher House Foundation, the West Bend Sunrise Rotary Club, and the Washington County Republican Party.
He is survived by his partner, Peggy Gedlen, and her children Paige, Deanna and Justin of West Bend; his surrogate son, Jackson "The Boy" Buck of West Bend; sister, Barbara (Douglas) Jaeger of Illinois; nephew, Jeffrey Jaeger of Illinois; niece, Andrea (Scott) Miehls of Michigan; and too many friends to list whose lives he touched. The people who had the pleasure of working for Jack were considered, by him, extended family. His pure heart and unique sense of humor will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, John and Beryl Timmer.
A memorial service in remembrance of Jack will be held on Saturday, March 10th at 3:00 p.m. at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington St., West Bend. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service.
