Jacques "Jack" Hegelund, 88, of West Bend, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Riverway Place in West Bend.
He was born on November 24, 1923 in Chicago, IL to the late Adolph and Lillian (nee Berger) Hegelund. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the European Theatre. He was united in marriage to Shirley Nell on July 12, 1947 at Plymouth Congregational Church in Milwaukee. The couple lived in New Berlin and Glendale until moving to West Bend in 1994.
Jack was employed as a construction supervisor for Marcus Corp. in Milwaukee for many years. After moving to West Bend he worked at Pick N Save South for 10 years and also was a volunteer partner at St. Joseph's Hospital, West Bend, for 10 years. He was a member of Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church, West Bend. He was a 33rd Degree Mason, Past Master of the West Bend Masonic Lodge #138 F.&A.M., and member of the Scottish Rite and Tripoli Shrine.
He is survived by two children, Clyde (Barbara) Hegelund of Osage Beach, MO, and Joan (Walter) Teague of West Bend; a granddaughter, Jennifer (Keith) Wiedmeyer of Campbellsport; two great-grandchildren, Corey and Stephanie, both of Louisiana; a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Nell of Milwaukee; two nephews, Marvin (Maddie) Goetter of Waukesha, and Tom (Jeanie) Goetter of Waukesha; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley; three sisters, Dorothy Hegelund, Harriet Goetter, and Grace Hegelund; and a brother-in-law, Elroy "Bud" Nell.
Private services will be held and inurnment will be in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.
Jack's family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Riverway Place, BrightStar, and Dr. M. Mian for their wonderful care and Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church for their prayers.
