James D. Bartelt

James D. Bartelt, age 78, of Kohlsville, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at Synergy Health - St. Joseph's Hospital, in the town of Polk.

He was born on March 28, 1927 on the Family Homestead Farm in the town of Wayne to the late Herman and Paula (nee Kurth) Bartelt. Jim graduated from Kewaskum High School in 1944 and then worked on the farm with his father.

On December 26, 1966 he was united in marriage to Diane Engeleiter at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in the town of Wayne. Together they continued farming and raising a family. Jim retired in 1987, but continued to help his son, Keith, who now works the farm.

Jim was a life member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church and spent 24 years on the church council. He was also a member of the Kohlsville Fire Dept., and a former member of both the Kohlsville Sportsman's Club and the Kohlsville Kruisers Snowmobile Club.

Jim's church life, his family, his friends, and his sense of humor, made Jim's life complete.

He is survived by his wife, Diane; three children, Beth (Rick) Steiner, Keith (Vicki) Bartelt, and Kevin (Tera) Bartelt, all of Kohlsville; seven grandchildren, Nathan, Erica, & Justin Steiner, Seth & Eli Bartelt, Marguerite & Sophia Bartelt; a sister, Elaine Rohde of Kieler; a brother, Eugene (Ellen) Bartelt of Waukegan, IL; two sisters-in-law, Mardell (Erwin) Rauh of Slinger, and Naomi Engeleiter of West Bend; a brother-in-law, Gerald (Susan) Engeleiter of Somerset; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Duane Rohde. Funerals services to remember Jim's life will be held on Friday, December 9th at 7:00 pm at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, town of Wayne. Rev. Steve Bode will officiate. Visitation will be Friday at the church from 3:00 pm until the time of service. Burial will be in Zion Church Cemetery on Saturday December 10th at 11:30 am.
