James A. Burnett, age 87, of West Bend, WI, formerly of Ballston Lake, NY, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2006 at Community Memorial Hospital in Menomonee Falls, WI.
He was born on December 1, 1918 in Barre, VT to the late Henry and Jane (nee Allan) Burnett, and was united in marriage to Eda Perantoni on December 9, 1939 in Barre, VT.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the European Theater. After the war he returned to the Vermont and upstate New York area and worked as a machinist for General Electric. James taught machine shop for 16 years for the Board of Cooperative Education System (B.O.C.E.S.). He also owned and operated Glenville Memorials, a granite monument company, in Scotia, NY.
James was a member of Granite Masonic Lodge #35 in Barre, VT, a Rotarian in both Scotia, NY, and Burnt Hills, NY, and a member of the East Glenville Volunteer Fire Dept.
He is survived by his wife, Eda; three children, Giannina (John) Radcliffe of West Bend, WI, Ann (Michael) Dahlin of Prescott, AZ, and Scott (Claire) Burnett of Falmouth, ME; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Radcliffe, Kristofer (Andrea) Radcliffe, and Shawn Dahlin; three great-grandchildren, Maddie, Hayden, and Charlotte Radcliffe; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jake Dahlin, a sister, Mary Jensen, and a brother, Henry Burnett, Jr.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, January 20th at 9:15 am at St. James Episcopal Church in West Bend. Fr. Russell Arnett and Fr. John Allen will concelebrate. Cremation took place at Myrhum ~ Patten Funeral & Cremation Service of West Bend, and burial of the cremated remains will be held at a later date.
