James L. Kahut

May 14, 1947 — July 8, 2015

James L. Kahut, 68, of Brownsville, was born into Eternal Life on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Cedar Community, West Bend.

He was born in Campbellsport. Jim graduated from Campbellsport High School and honorably served his country, in the U.S. Army 4th. Division Pleikeu Vietnam. Jim took on the nickname “Bushwacker” while serving in Vietnam. After his honorable discharge he worked as a farmhand, a cheese-maker in St. Kilian, a roofer, a meat cutter & butcher. Jim drove semi for 26 years & he owned his own semi for 12 years. He retired in 2005 after complications from being exposed to Agent Orange while serving in Vietnam. From 1969 to present he was an active member in American Legion Post 8339, 2930, and American Legion Post 69, Mayville. Jim enjoyed spending time with his sons, family, and all his biker buddies. He enjoyed his motorcycles, cars, hunting, & Johnny Cash music.

Jim was the loving father of two sons, Jamie & Jonathan; proud grandpa of Ava; a sister, Judy (Jeff) Bauer; a brother, Joe Kahut; aunts, Agnes (Butch) Riemert and Delores Kahut: special friend, Gail (John) Neumann; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam & Irene (nee Drefahl) Kahut; maternal grandparents, Henry (Clara) Drefahl; paternal grandparents Peter (Gertrude) Kahut; daughter-in-law, Jennifer; uncles, Art, Leo, and Paul (Ester) Kahut; Marie (Carl) Volm, Rose (Eli) Reimert; aunts Ginny and Dee Goltry; cousins, Randy Riemert, Melody, Paul A., Peter Kahut, Gary Volm, and Sharon Beal (nee Volm); special angel LMK.

A Memorial service in remembrance of Jim will be held on Thursday July 23, 2015 at 6:00 pm at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, (1315 W. Washington St.), West Bend. Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday from 3:00 pm until the time of service. Following the service, Military Honors will be held.

Jim’s family would like to thank the 3rd floor (Country Side) nursing staff at Cedar Community for their loving care.
