James “Jim” A. Kling, 68, of West Bend, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 9, 2025, with his family by his side.
Jim was born on June 21, 1956, in Hartford, to the late Edmund and Delores (nee Gehl) Kling. He grew up in St Lawrence, attended Hartford High School and earned an associate degree from UWWC in Electronics. In 1976 he got his start in the building trades working for RAW Builders followed by Hartford Builders. He was united in marriage to Theresa Weber on May 23, 1981, and they enjoyed over 43 happy years together. Shortly after their marriage, Jim opened his own home building and remodeling business, Oakridge Builders, Inc. He was a skilled carpenter and relished this time of his life.
He also served on the Slinger School Board, was a member of the West Bend Area Builders Association and enjoyed playing tennis and bowling. He was a great husband and father and loved cheering on his children at their sporting events.
In 2001, Jim had a life altering accident which left him with immense challenges. He faced them calm acceptance and continued to keep a positive attitude and share in the lives of family and friends as much as possible. He was always at the ready with building advice, even drawing up plans on occasion. He developed an interest in ancestry, and compiling family history through photos and videos.
Above all, Jim was a devoted husband to Theresa, proud father to his children Jeff (Stefanie) Kling, and Amanda (Ryan) Lee, and grandfather to his beloved grandchildren Taylor, Mike, Kate, Luke, Adam, Jake, Sara, and Elizabeth Kling, and CJ, Ellie and Sam Lee. He loved watching his family grow and sharing in their lives. Jim is further survived by his brothers Dave (Linda) Kling, Gary (Joan) Kling and his sister Nancy (Roger) Wolf. In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his step-father Ken Guerndt.
