James "Jim" Peter Miller

James P. “Jim” Miller, age 58 years, of West Bend, formerly of Watertown, found peace on January 7, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family, after a yearlong battle with brain cancer.

Jim was born on March 21, 1965 in Woodstock, Illinois to John “Jack” and Irene Miller (nee Thurlwell). He was united in marriage to Kerry L. Jewett on May 26, 1990.

Jim graduated from Watertown High School in 1983. He grew up working on the family dairy farm. From a young age, he was taught the importance of working hard. He spent most of his adult life as a Heavy Equipment Operator working for Parking Lot Maintenance in Pewaukee. A big part of his daily life was knowing the weather forecast, and if he needed to get ready to jump in the truck and move snow.

Jim truly loved and took a lot of pride in his work and was still mentally ready to get back on the jobsite during his final days. His hobbies and interests included hunting and fishing with his two sons, watching his daughter’s dance recitals, and traveling around the country with Kerry to visit their children and see them succeed in their pursuits. Camping, traveling, snowmobiling, and motorcycling were a big part of his life’s adventure.

Those Jim leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 33 years, Kerry; three children, Alyssa (Jarad), Alec (Sarah), and Aric; grandson, Thomas James Miller; parents, Jack and Irene Miller; siblings, Becky (Cory) Tomczyk, Cindy (Bryan) Tilbury, Cathy (Brian) Winker, Rob (Sarah) Miller; mother-in-law, Laurie Jewett; and brother-in-law, Sean Jewett. He is further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Margaret Thurlwell (nee Schaefer); and paternal grandparents, Peter and Frances Miller (nee Stilling).

VISITATION:  Jim’s family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Myrhum-Patten Funeral & Cremation Service (1315 W Washington St., West Bend, WI – 53095).

SERVICE:  A Memorial Service in remembrance of Jim will take place Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin and Horizon Hospice for their care and compassion.

Jim chose to make an anatomical gift to the Medical College of Wisconsin for further research on glioblastoma and brain cancer.
