Jan F. Rosenthal, 69, of Kewaskum, passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, December 8, 2007, at his home.
He was born on January 15, 1938, in Fond du Lac, the son of the late Ivan C. and Mildred (Immel) Rosenthal, and on November 29, 1958, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Miller at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac. Marjorie preceded Jan in death on March 9, 1994.
Jan was a dedicated English teacher at Kewaskum High School, retiring in 1995 after 33 years of service. He was also the Kewaskum High School girl’s tennis coach and served as an auxiliary police officer with the Kewaskum Police Department. Jan was also employed by the Department of Natural Resources as a deputy game warden and park ranger for many years.
Jan was a member of Wings over Wisconsin, Ducks Unlimited and the West Bend Barton Sportsmen’s Club. He loved outdoor activities and hunting.
Survivors include his loving partner, Jennifer Piper and her son, Staff Sergeant, Kevin Piper; two sons, Mark Rosenthal (Michelle Klupp) of Union Grove and Craig (Kelly) Rosenthal of Kewaskum; two granddaughters, Liza and Alaina Rosenthal, other relatives, many friends and his dog, Haley.
In addition to his wife and parents, Jan was preceded in death by a sister, Jacqueline Rosenthal.
Funeral services for Jan were held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2007, at Peace United Church of Christ, 343 First Street in Kewaskum. Rev. Eric Kirkegaard officiated and burial followed in Lutheran Memorial Park in Kewaskum.
Relatives and friends called on Thursday at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services.
