Jane E. Capelle (nee Wollenzien), age 84, of West Bend, passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at the Samaritan Health Center in West Bend.
Jane was born on September 24, 1920 in Waukesha to the late Martin and Jessie (nee Hahn) Wollenzien and was raised in Waukesha graduating from Waukesha High School in 1940. In 1944 Jane graduated from Whitewater State Teachers College.
After her marriage to Merlin F. Capelle on June 3, 1944 at the First Lutheran Church, Temple Texas, the couple lived in Madison, WI before moving to West Bend in 1950. Her husband preceded her in death on July 12, 2000.
She taught in local public schools before taking a position with Moraine Park Technical College where she taught mathematics until her retirement in 1985.
Jane was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in West Bend as well as the St. John's Ladies' Guild. She was also a 50-year member of a local bridge club.
Jane is survived by four children, John (Wanda) Capelle of West Bend, Alan (Sue) Capelle of Oregon, WI, Eileen Capelle of Fond du Lac, and Emily Capelle of Brookfield; five grandchildren, Laura (Tim) Devine, Sarah, Alison, Rebecca Capelle, and Nathan Lange; one brother, Don Wollenzien of Aurora, CO; two sisters-in-law, Ethel Sorenson of Madison and Delores Anderson of Janesville; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Wollenzien.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 3, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in West Bend. Rev. George Mumm will officiate and burial will follow in Washington County Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the church from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers memorials to St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
