Jane M. Maiers, 80, of West Bend, formerly of Cedarburg, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at the Samaritan Health Center in West Bend.
She was born on March 15, 1934, in Milwaukee, the daughter of the late Walter and Sylvia (Klabechek) Helz, and on April 24, 1954, she was united in marriage to William Maiers in Milwaukee. Jane and William made their home in Cedarburg for nearly 50 years.
Jane was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in West Bend and a former member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Cedarburg. She was a long-time employee of the Ozaukee News Graphic and was a girl scout leader. Over the years the family enjoyed traveling and camping.
After retiring, Jane and William spent time in their home in Big Flats. They enjoyed attending their grandchildren's sporting events and Jane enjoyed baking with her grandchildren, especially chocolate chip cookies. Other favorite pastimes included sewing, gardening and raising boxers. Jane was a loving wife and devoted mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by her husband, her family and by all who knew her.
Those Jane leaves behind to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 60 years, William; four children, Steven (Carol) Maiers of Hancock, Karen (Mark) Kroening of West Bend, Connie Ziebell of the town of Farmington and Joseph Maiers of Cedarburg; seven grandchildren, Timothy (Amy) Maiers, Joshua Maiers, Matthew, Pamela and Amanda Kroening, Katie Ziebell (fiance, Chad Holl) and Adam (Elisa) Ziebell; four great-grandchildren, Kyan, Bryce, Ellie and Mason Maiers, other relatives, friends and the family boxer, Bambi.
In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy (Frank) Klima and her son-in-law, Gregory "Greg" Ziebell.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Jane was held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 7, 2014, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum. Father Edwin Kornath officiated and cremation followed the traditional service.
Jane's family greeted relatives and friends at the church on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of Mass.
The Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum was entrusted with Jane's arrangements.
