Janet Marie Rinzel passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Serenity Villa III in Slinger, Wisconsin.
Born 67 years ago on July 11, 1957, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Milwaukee, Janet was one of four children of the late Andrew and Evelyn (Becker) Rinzel.
Though Janet was born visually impaired, her love of life and family was never clouded by this handicap. She overcame any obstacle in her path and made the best of every day. Janet graduated in 1976 from the Wisconsin School for the Visually Handicapped in Janesville and went on to spend her 34-year career with Industries for the Blind in Milwaukee. After retiring, Janet moved to Lomira to cherish time with her beloved parents until their passings in 2014.
Janet chose to move to Hope Health and Rehab in Lomira following her parents’ passing, where she made friends with the nurses, staff, caregivers, and residents of the home. Janet spent the last few years at Serenity Villa III in Slinger. She always considered herself blessed by the kind and dedicated staff who loved the residents and treated them as if they were part of their own family, and made it feel like home. Janet enjoyed visits from relatives and friends. Janet’s sister, in addition to missing Janet, will miss the residents and entire staff of Serenity Villa III. She thanks them for taking such good care of Janet and loving her so! A huge ‘thank you’ is due to the Preceptor Home Health caregivers, who provided endless friendly and loving support for Janet, and kept her sister up to date on her condition.
She was in her element playing board games and verbal competition games. Singing was therapy to Janet; her favorites being oldies, and she could harmonize just beautifully. Often, she reminisced about the past and had an excellent memory about people, places, and events. We will never forget the time spent with our sister Janet and will treasure each and every moment we were blessed to share with her.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents and older sister, Gloria.
She is survived by her loving sister, Lois (Ken) Millikin, her caring brother, David (Anne) Rinzel, and three nieces, Neela (Joe) Erwin (and their one-year-old son, Henry), Tia (Tim) Semoń, and Faith Rinzel.
