Janette J. Ehlenfeldt, nee Laganowski, age 89, of West Bend passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at Cedar Lake Health & Rehabilitation Center in the town of West Bend.
She was born on December 16, 1922 in Milwaukee to the late Walter and Josephine (nee Sieracki) Laganowski. Janette graduated from Rufus King High School in the class of 1940. On January 10, 1945, she was united in marriage to George Ehlenfeldt in Astoria, OR. They lived in Milwaukee from 1953 until 1969 when they moved to Cedarburg. In 1989, they moved to West Bend. George preceded her in death on April 8, 2003.
Janette worked in the Inspection Department at American Can Company in Milwaukee, retiring in 1987. She enjoyed quilting, baking, flowers, and making things for her grandchildren. Janette was a wonderful mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her four children, John (Judy) Ehlenfeldt of Milwaukee, Chris (Don) Behm of Cedarburg, Debra (Gary) Kowalewski of Belgium, and Ann Wood of Hudson; 10 grandchildren, Matt (Theresa) Wood, Angela (Matt) Schiller, Natalie (Jake) Schmidt, Brian (Erika) Behm, Weslan Wood, Katie Kowalewski, Rebecca (Tommy) Treutelaar, Elizabeth (Bill) Dobberpuhl, Lori (Chris) Poniewaz, and Joseph Kowalewski; 10 great-grandchildren, Blaze Kowalewski, Samuel Schiller, Nicholas Schiller, Vincent Schiller, Jack Behm, Andy Behm, Madeline Schmidt, Julia Schmidt, Autumn Schmidt, and William Dobberpuhl; her sister, Florence Walker of California; special friend, Marilyn Anderson of West Bend; other relatives and friends.
Janette is preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Ehlenfeldt; and brother, Walter Laganowski.
Funeral services in remembrance of Janette will be held on Thursday, December 22nd at 11:30 am at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington Street, West Bend with Rev. Richard Robinson of St. Joseph Catholic Church - Big Bend presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday at 10:00 am until the time of service.
Memorials to Cedar Community or the Alzheimer's Association are appreciated by the family.
