Janice M. Morenzien, 74, of Kewaskum passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2009, surrounded by her loving family at her home.
She was born May 12, 1935, in the town of Oseola , the daughter of the late Frank and Leona (Roehl) Backhaus, and on May 28, 1955, she was united in marriage to Earl Morenzien at Dundee Lutheran Church, in Dundee.
Janice was a member of St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kewaskum. She was employed at Regal Ware, Inc. from March 14, 1961 until her retirement on July 19, 1997 and was a member of the Regal Ware 25 Year Club. She attended Osceola Elementary School in Fond du Lac County until May 21, 1949. She then graduated from Campbellsport High School in May, 1953. Janice loved spending time with family, sharing her cooking, fishing, the Brewers, and playing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Our dear mom will forever be in our hearts. She fought courageously with grace, dignity and a sense of humor. She was someone who reached for our hand and touched our hearts. Her courage became an inspiration to us all.
Those Janice leaves behind to cherish her memories are her loving husband, Earl of 54 years; a daughter, Linda (Gary) Gavin; a son, Larry (Kris), all of Kewaskum. Seven grandchildren, Stacy (Fred) Cluppert, Heather (Jason) Handke, Krystal (special friend, Justin Boeldt), Scott Morenzien, Nichole (Joe) Skelton, Kelly (Christopher) Pekrul, and Keri (fiancé, Steve Pieper); eleven great grandchildren, Dylan, Noah, Alyson Cluppert, Garret, Lorren, Lidia Handke, Clay, Makayla Skelton, Ella Morenzien, Caleb and Jacob Pekrul and an expected great granddaughter in December. Two brothers, Eugene (Marilyn) Backhaus of New Fane and Donald (Beverly) Backhaus of Campbellsport.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her mother-in law, Ella Bartsch.
Funeral services for Janice were held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 31, 2009, at St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1417 Parkview Dr. in Kewaskum. Rev. Timothy Henning officiated and burial was at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Ledgeview Memorial Park in Fond du Lac.
Relatives and friends called at the church on Monday from 3:00 p.m. until time of service.
Memorials may be made to St. Lucas Church and St. Lucas School.
The family would like to thank all the people at Aurora Health Care, especially Paula Carlton; Aurora Visiting Nurses; St. Luke’s Hospital staff and Dr. Scott Kamelle, Dr. Perry Gould, and Carrie Bilicki; Vince Lombardi Cancer Care Center at St. Lukes; and a special thank you to Jill Evans, who she considered an adopted daughter. Also a special thank you to all who sent cards and all their prayers during her time of illness. She cherished each and every one of them.
