Jean E. Bublitz (nee Icke), 83, of West Bend, received Eternal peace with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Cedar Community, West Bend.
She was born on February 29, 1932 to the late Milton and Stella (nee Kastens) Icke in Milwaukee. Jean graduated from Shorewood High School in 1948. She married the love of her life, Warren, on October 28, 1950. Together, they owned and operated Icke & Bublitz in Mequon until 1991. Jean was a long-time member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in South Mequon until she moved to a West Bend condominium in 1997. She was a very patient woman. She enjoyed teaching her grandchildren sheepshead and their catechism lessons. She enjoyed food of all kinds and having dinner with her family. Family was the most important thing to her, always stopping to help when needed. In her retired years, she jokingly called herself the "TV kid", loved to read books, and always ready to play a game of cards, especially with her grandchildren. After surgery in 2011, she moved to the Cedar Lake Assisted Living Community and later the nursing home. She always greeted people with a smile and a pleasant caring attitude towards her caretakers and other residents. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her two children, Lynn (Curt) Gruenewald of Beaver Dam and David (Jenifer) Bublitz of West Bend; five grandchildren, Aaron (Nicole) Gruenewald, Eric (fiancAC.e Nicole) Gruenewald, Andrew (Kathryn) Bublitz, Benjamin (Kathryn) Bublitz, and Christopher Bublitz; five great-grandchildren, Liam, Colin, and Levi Gruenewald and Dominic and Warren Bublitz; beloved cousins, Betty Gumm and Audrey Phillips; dear friend, Joan Gruenewald; other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Warren.
A funeral service in remembrance of Jean will be held on Saturday, April 25, at 12:30 pm at Good Sheperd Ev. Lutheran Church, 777 Indiana Ave, West Bend. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Milwaukee. Visitation will be at the church from 10:30 am until the time of service.
Special thanks to the Pastors of Good Shepherd West Bend, Dr. Gibson, and the staff at Cedar Community.
