Jeanette L. Gnacinski

April 25, 1922 — March 7, 2010

Jeanette Laura Gnacinski, of Antigo, passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2010, at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center. She was 87 years old.

She was born on April 25, 1922, in Jackson, a daughter of the late James and Retta (Cole) Harns. She was united in marriage to Eugene "Mike" Gnacinski on June 7, 1947, in West Bend. Her husband preceded her in death on October 21, 1984.

Jeanette graduated from West Bend High School in 1940. She worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone Company for seven years and for Kewaskum Telephone Company for seven years. She also worked in the kitchen at Kewaskum High School.

Jeanette and her husband moved to Antigo in 1972 where they owned and operated Mike G's Kewaskum Inn. For 12 years, she was the secretary of the Langlade County Tavern League and ran their bar alone after Mike died for four years.

She was a foster grandmother at West Elementary for 18 years retiring in 2009. For 37 years she belonged to the Rolling Homemakers Club and the Wisconsin Homemakers Association. Jeanette enjoyed reading, fancy work and walking.

Those she leaves behind to cherish her memory include a daughter, Linda Gage of New Berlin; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Gnacinski of Antigo; a sister, Evelyn (Charles) Rinn of Port Washington; a brother, Richard Harns of Port Washington; five grandchildren, Kris (Mark) Gradian, Nicole Sellers, Jeri Nicholson, Bridgette (Nick) Lykins and Michael Gnacinski; a great-grandson, Ian Gradian, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Jeanette was preceded in death by two sons, James Gnacinski and an infant son, Michael; an infant granddaughter, Rebecca; two sisters, Edith Hicks and Dorothy Polenski and a sister-in-law, Marjorie Harns.

A visitation and funeral services were held at the Bradley Funeral Home in Antigo on Tuesday, March 9.

A second visitation was held on Monday, March 15, at the Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. Father William Key officiated and burial followed in Holy Trinity Catholic Church Cemetery in Kewaskum.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial was established.
